As long ago as the Peloponnesian War, the historian Thucydides observed that an essential part of radical political change is “corrupting” the language. In that spirit, here is a collection of new words and phrases for all of us to start insinuating into our speech and writing:
- ASWB (pronounced, “asswipe”)
- Arrogant Suburban White Boy; a white male college student who thinks that any interference with his dreams of wealth and glory is a human-rights violation and who resents the loss of status of white males over the last generation; a College Republican. (Our apologies to the Association of Social Work Boards.)
- F___ing Fathers
- Fill in the blank any way you like.
- PIGS
- People in Good Situations& people who benefit from the unequal character of free-market capitalism and therefore don’t want it to change.
- Racist
- A white person who fights back.
- Screw Law
- Any law that we don’t seriously intend to enforce, but we keep it around in case we want to screw somebody.
- T & A
- Tradition and Authority.
